Tango

Stage that consists of a circular platform over which hangs a red velvet curtain. During the performance, a couple of tango dancers are led by the artist onto the small stage to execute, to the sound of famous tango songs

Albuquerque Mendes

Albuquerque Mendes was born in Trancoso in 1953. He lives and works in Leça da Palmeira. He attended the Coimbra Visual Arts Circle (CAPC), between 1970 and 1975, and held his first solo exhibition there in 1971. He belonged to the Puzzle Group from its creation, in 1976, until its last exhibition, in 1980. He was one of the founders of Associação de Arte Espaço Lusitano, one of the most dynamic places for young Portuguese art in the mid-1980s. In 1974 he presented his first performance/ritual. He gained international visibility through his performances, having participated in some of the most important festivals of the genre, in France, at Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and at the Lyon Symposium, as well as in other countries: Germany, Spain, Holland and Brazil; his practice continues to this day. He has participated in the collective exhibition Alternative Zero, National Gallery of Modern Art in Belém, Lisbon; Triptych, Europalia 91, Museum van Hedendaagse Kunst, Ghent; 2nd Biennale International de Casablanca. A selection of his solo exhibitions include Confesso, Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, Porto; Nature and Cruelty, Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói, Brazil; Caminho de Santo (with Nelson Leiner), Valencian Institute of Modern Art, Valencia; La Creazione, Church of Santo António dos Portugueses, Rome; Rosebud, Room22, College of Arts, Coimbra; Jugglers - Problems and Insolvency, Galeria Graça Brandão, Lisbon; In the restlessness of desire, Soares dos Reis National Museum, Porto; Fogo - Teixeira Lopes House Museum, Vila Nova de Gaia; Performance Bodies - Vila Velha Museum, Vila Real.
